Alexandra Faye Sadeghian Interview

Alexandra Faye Sadeghian

We have an interview with Alexandra Faye Sadeghian. She stars in the new action movie "Guns Of Eden".

What's your character in Guns of Eden like in terms of personality?

Megan Forrest, she's a little bit shut down to the world. She has a very tough exterior. She's ultimately very, very sensitive. She's a little snarky, a little sarcastic, and also just a very compassionate person as well.

What did you most like about your character?

I like how strong she is. I think that with female characters, a lot of times we see that they go from, especially in an action film like this, we see that they go from weak and fragile to all of a sudden they've realized that they have power. I think the cool thing about this character is she's known that all along, that was never part of the journey. It's that she's always had strength, she just is looking for direction, morally.

Did you do any preparation for the role?

Yeah. It was a lot of physical preparation. It was a lot of weight training. We did some kickboxing, a little firearms, stuff like that. For emotional preparation, she wasn't ridiculously far from me personality wise. She was pretty reachable for me. So there was obviously preparation, like the memorization and understanding the character, but it wasn't months and months and months of it. It was a pretty easy fit.

Why did you choose acting as a career?

I don't know. It just kind of chose me a little bit. First time I did it, I was in high school. I was a freshman and I did it in class because we were taking it as an elective and immediately I was like, "Yeah, this is it." And I followed that and I studied more and more and more and I couldn't ever escape it, to be honest. So it chose me and I just accept it.

Which actors inspire you?

I am very, very inspired by people like Anne Hathaway, Johnny Depp, Charlize Theron. They're all very, very good actors. They have great personalities as well. They have a lot of empathy. So both socially and as actors, I like them.

What do you most enjoy about acting?

I enjoy multiple things. There's a really cool release that comes when you do it really intensely and there's a really cool emotional release you get there, and it's kind of like an adrenaline junkie thing. But then aside from that, I like that, especially when there's a good story with characters that aren't always represented. I like being able to say, "All right, we're stepping into this so we can give these people voices," because there are tons of people, tons of types of people who've had voices for a long time and as actors, it's our job to make sure everybody gets a voice.

What genre do you like filming more, drama or comedy?

I think it would depend on the script. I have a tendency towards drama because I'm a dramatic person, but I also am kind of a snarky, jokey kind of person. So I think it would depend on the script. I think I could like both equally. A good script is a good script.

Are there specific writers or directors that you would like to work with?

If he was still around, I would've loved to work with Kubrick.

If you could play any role from past TV shows or movies, who would you play?

Ooh, I have two actually. So the more common like, "Oh, okay," one is Poison Ivy. I would love to play Poison Ivy. And then the more, this is an anime character, so I don't even know if it would be politically correct to do it, but it would be Princess Mononoke.

What has been the most challenging scene that you filmed to date?

There's a film, we just are finishing it up now. It's called Bound. I was a producer on it as well, and I was the lead in that one and it was a really emotional project, and that had some of the hardest, most intense emotional scenes I've ever done in my life. Specifically hard, I can't remember exactly which one in there. It was one in there, I remember having trouble getting out. I remember having a pretty hard come down from that scene. So that was the film that I did the most intense scenes.

What kinds of roles do you want to do in future in terms of genres and/or personalities?

I think I would love to do more action. I really enjoy action films. Especially as a female, I really like doing action. I think it's empowering to see us in those roles too. I also really enjoy fantasy and I really like anything that is difficult, challenging, and has a transformative element.

What has been the biggest challenge of your career so far?

I think that's not getting in your own head and not letting you know what everybody else is saying get into your head as well. Those two things, because I think you can be your own worst enemy, but other people can also be pretty formidable enemies as well. So the challenge is to stay positive. And I think that's in life in general, I don't think it's specifically to acting. I think it's with everything, to stay positive and to keep believing in why you're doing what you're doing and that you're meant to be doing it.
